Diversity Inclusion In Bank Of America

Houda,

Honestly, I love Pitney Bowes’ method of hiring, everything they’ve done is to help the less fortunate, those who have been rejected by the majority. When it comes to diversity inclusion, Pitney Bowes’ lead the way, and yes, I love their strategies of communication and integrative; not to mention, their constant involvement in the minority communities. They give people hope and as you’ve said, “a sense of belongingness.” Having that sense of belonging only encourages new innovations, better understanding of customer’s needs, and a massive financial gain for the organization. I have to say, Bank of America is another great example of diversity inclusion.

    Hiring For Diversity

Hiring for diversity is an important issue and sometimes it is necessary in public agencies, and also the fire service for many reasons. One reason would be that in these communities there are cultural barriers, which mean that potentially there also are language barriers. This can cause lack of communication between the ones that are providing the help and those that need it and can be extremely frustrating for the providers. Hiring people that are bi-lingual is a huge bonus for public agencies. In addition, having diversity can ensure that people in the communities feel that their race, religion, culture, gender etc. are being respected and that are also well represented.…

Due to numerous disadvantages (e.g. socioeconomic and education), awareness of the history of injustice and discrimination, fear of additional burden and commitment, poor understanding of research processes, ineffective recruitment procedures, and unfavorable researcher attributes, result in minorities not wanting to participate in research (Table 1). Researchers, their teams, and institutions can create facilitators for engaging minorities in research. These facilitators are a combination of tangible (e.g. providing health services) and non-tangible (showing respect and compassion for minorities) recruitment, retention, and barrier reduction strategies (Table 1). Minority individuals should be empowered, convinced of the relevance of the…

The United States the Securities and Exchange Commission approved rules addressing corporate diversity where publicly held corporations will need to disclose the consideration of diversity initiatives applied in the nomination of board directors. For practical purposes, many of the anti-discrimination initiatives implemented by U.S. corporations must be internally motivated (Collins, 2012). Another initiative is the equal pay for men and women, which has been a critical issue around the world. In January 2009, President Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to supplement existing pay equity legislation. Under the Act, the statute of limitations in which to bring an equal pay discrimination claim resets after each discriminatory paycheck…

The location I live in is an area that lacks diversity. Throughout my schooling I have learned a great deal about learning with different cultures and remaining open and trying not to jump to conclusions that could potentially offend someone. However, we live somewhere where the culture is not rich. Most of the experience I have got working with other cultures has all came from professors and reading about other cultures. My location is one where there are many low-income individuals, and many are struggling with various drug abuse issues.…

The influx of studies on diversity from 1995 to the present is statistically beginning to be disrupted from the traditional monopoly of Caucasian men holding board positions. In 2004, the Fortune 100 board groups reported that 85.1% of their board members were Caucasian, 10% were African American, 3.8% were Hispanic, and 1% Asian/ Pacific Islander (Alliance for Board Diversity, 2017). The last statistics to date from the Fortune 100 board statistics in 2016 now report that 82.5% of board members are Caucasian, 9.9% are African American, 4.5% are Hispanic, and 3.2% are Asian/ Pacific Islander (Alliance for Board Diversity, 2017). While these statistics sound horrifically unimpressive at first, one must take into account the slow rate of change that exists in governance, especially in the nonprofit sector where the change towards diversity must be a strong, conscious, and professional effort to maintain.…

I chose an article from The National Law Review by Daniel J. Green entitle Promoting Diversity Without Reverse Discrimination. I thought this article was interesting because it addressed the potentially negative impact of diversity programs. The issue of diversity has been covered in several of my business classes. I agree that diversity in the workplace is beneficial and should be actively addressed by leadership. While we have been given many basic outlines for implementing diversity programs and the potential benefits to such programs, as well as, the potentially negative consequences of ignoring this issue, no text has effectively outlined the dangers of an overly aggressive diversity program.…

Introduction When employees seek employment, they do so with the intent of performing well at their jobs, getting paid appropriately for their performance, and with the understanding that if they have a need that arises, their employer will try to accommodate them as best possible, if they have the means to do so. With a diverse workforce, religion and disability are two categories that will always vary among employees and how the company meets those needs. Companies are very diverse and with diversity come differences that everyone within the company must be aware of in order to be professional and respectful to everyone as not to offend anyone. Employers have to be mindful of the different religions and disabilities within their company…

Managers face many challenges when they have a group of individuals to delegate duties to and supervise to see tasks done in order to run a good business. According to the reading in the Interactive Lecture portion of this week, "as workplaces become more diverse, there is also more competition for existing jobs between members of various minority groups. " (p.2). This poses a challenge for managers because frustration and anger tendencies will present themselves among members of the group still thinking that they may have still been treated unfairly.…
