Managers face many challenges when they have a group of individuals to delegate duties to and supervise to see tasks done in order to run a good business. According to the reading in the Interactive Lecture portion of this week, "as workplaces become more diverse, there is also more competition for existing jobs between members of various minority groups." (p.2). This poses a challenge for managers because frustration and anger tendencies will present themselves among members of the group still thinking that they may have still been treated unfairly. Managers responsibilities are to then make sure that everyone knows that they are each an important factor to the group that brings difference not just in identity but personality, ideas, and concepts; along with their individual skills and educational backgrounds. By making each person feeling of value and importance to the group and showing they're being appreciated helps keep mindsets more positive and helps reduce tension or animosity. …show more content…
In diverse work groups, there are men and women, varying in age, race, religion, and communication. "It's easy to misunderstand someone who communicates differently. Misunderstanding leads to misinterpretation and poor office relationships." (Holt, 2015). Again, every member of the group brings different ideas and concepts to the table. People interpret and understand things differently so the idea of group outings, whether that be a company retreat or going out to a company dinner or drink is encouraged. This way everyone is able to get to know one another on a different level than just work related. One on one meet ups with people tends to help members understand one another a little better in hopes that diversity creates positive and productive results instead of negative
