The Disabilities Act of 1990 had a huge effect on not only our nation, but also on Human Resources. It gave a special kind of freedom with to people with disabilities. This act made it where a person with disabilities could not be discriminated against while trying to obtain a job anywhere in the United States of America. And to this day it still holds true. Many places have started just for people with disabilities. While other companies that have been around for years have found ways with in the workforce to accompany people with disabilities. And to this day the Act still is being enforced making sure that everyone can have the opportunity to work just like the person next to them.

Human Resource Management is a huge part of business today. It’s the department that helps us get paid and gets us the benefits. It all started when a dad and son duo decided that they wanted to make a difference in their son/brother’s life. They didn’t want him to be sitting in a room being taken care of. They want him to be able to work a real job and be able to make friends and love what he does. Statistics show that 90% of adults with Autism do not have a job. This could be because of them not knowing that they can obtain a real job. Or it could also be because of discrimination from employers that do not want to hire someone with Autism. But Rising Tide has turned the tables. Out of the forty-three employees that are employed at Rising Tide, thirty-five of them have some form of Autism. Rising Tide not only trains them to work the car wash, but they educate them in what it is like to a job and how to handle them. So that maybe they can go out work a job that they are inspired to do.
