Diabetes : A Growing Problem Essay
“Type 1 diabetes, once known as juvenile diabetes, is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin, a hormone needed to allow sugar (glucose) to enter cells to produce energy”( http://Mayoclinic.org ). Many people do not know the different affects each type has on their body. With Type 1 it affects the pancreas production of the insulin.
“Diabetes is a problem with your body that causes blood glucose (sugar) levels to rise higher than normal. This is also called hyperglycemia. Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes.” (http://Diabetes.org ) Your body does not use insulin properly, which your pancreas cannot handle.
Gestational diabetes is a condition that occurs during pregnancy.
