Stock began to make it in the industry after his apprenticeship with Life magazine's photographer Gjon Mili. He began to teach workshops, exhibit his photographs across the world, and take photos of Hollywood actors and jazz musicians. James Dean, an actor, was his most promising subject. Stock focused on every little detail, believing in making his work come to life. Stock loved what he did and it dazzled in every image. Proving his work, Dennis Stock earned the Advertising Photographers of America in 1991, in 1962, the 1st Prize in the International Photography Competition, (Poland), and in 1951, the 1st Prize in Life Young Photographers Contest, (USA). Along with his awards, Stock published many times in various magazines, continuing to share his
