Beloved easily manipulates people around her and uses them for all they have. Beloved completely drains Sethe of her energy and even her ability to live. Beloved slowly brings up memories about what she remembers as a baby to make Sethe feel guilty about killing her and leaving her behind, Beloved uses this to make Sethe finally crumble under the pressure of the water and the waves crash over her, finally ending her fight against her …show more content…
Also, even in her death, Beloved suffers from other people, and her own feelings and fears. As she stands in the rain, people around her “[were] taken [she] [is] not taken [she] [is] falling like the rain is [she] [watches] him eat inside [she] [is] crouching to keep from falling with the rain [she] [is] going to be in pieces he hurts where [she] sleep he puts his finger there [she] [drops] the food and break into pieces she took my face away.” (Morrison 22.7) This could mean that everyone around Beloved that has died, are being chosen to fully die and go to heaven or hell. Beloved, however, does not get chosen and she is forced to stay there and watch as everyone else is picked. Beloved is suffering due to being left behind and having to endure the pain of being stuck in the “In Between”, and she is forced to grow up there, never moving on until she is finally re-birthed out of the
