When the Pilgrims came to America, they came to create a country where we could have rights, privileges, and to not be judged on our religion, race, gender, and etc. When creating the Declaration of Independence, the Founding Fathers clearly stated, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."(Jefferson 1) Although at the time of this important document being made, their “everyone” just meant the white male property owners, but further resulting for everyone in America.Which means “that Declaration of Independence protects our opportunity and rights to improve our lives, no matter who we are”.(Amadeo 1) This is indirectly referred to the American …show more content…
He stated “The American Dream is a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for every man, with opportunity for each according to his ability or achievement.” (Adams 15) Again resulting in the work hard, play hard mentality.
