Definition Essay: What Does Friendship Mean?

Friendship is a word that can have multiple meaning for different people. A lot of people may say that friendship is just the relationship between two people who enjoy talking to each others, hanging out with one another or just someone who is nice to them. Also, a lot of the time, people can also misunderstand what exactly friendship is. The standard definition of friendship is the emotions or conduct of friends; the state of being friends. However, friendship to me, is something that brings support, joy and makes you who you are. For example, when I say that friendship is something that brings support, I mean the friends that are there to support you through your dreams, goals, life, etc. Friends are people who support you in what you want to do, not to just give encouraging words and not be there. I find that a lot of people don’t really think about that when decide to be in a friendship with someone just because they’re nice or because they talk to that person once in awhile. For instance, in high school people assume they have a lot of “good friends” who supports them. However, once high school comes to an end, they’ll start to realize who actually stayed in the end and who didn’t. Teenagers assume the friends that they have in freshman year; …show more content…
What really is friendship? True friendship comes with commitments, common interests, equality, but most of all good influence. True friendships aren 't the ones where you feel out of place, the ones where you don’t get treated as an equal or the ones that you just want to fit in. Of course the term friendship may mean different things for different people, however I believe those are the main focus of what the term friendship actually mean. So, what really is friendship?
