I bring to your attention concern about the continued spread of Crupina vulgaris, often referred to as the, Common Crupina. The Crupina vulgaris is an invasive species weed with two varieties, typica and brachypappa (Bruckart et al.2016). Crupina vulgaris is a winter annual forb which grows up to 1 m from a thin taproot one to a couple meters deep. Oblong too obovate sessile or petioles basal leaves exist in the overwintering stage and the vulgaris flower has a seed head and is usually pinkish or purple in color. This species is of primary concern in four US Northwest states, Oregon, Idaho, California and Washington. Crupina vulgaris is a noxious weed which is unpalatable to most herbivores which has contributed to its uncontrolled growth.
