When I return to school after summer break I will take AP Biology 2. I enjoyed my experience with Honors Biology so I decided to continue it at a higher level. In order to properly introduce myself I will be discussing my family, my previous science courses, and my purpose and goals in taking this class. I am a only child and have a small family. I live with my Mom and Grandma while my Dad lives separately. At home my dog Sammy is the closest thing I have to a brother and he keeps me company every day. My Dad Christopher is a retired Coast Guard Veteran with a 4 year microbiology degree. While my Mom Belinda is currently working at Huntington Bank as a teller. On a broader scale my family is extremely close and we meet for every single special occasion. This usually occurs at my Uncle Tom or Aunt Mel's house because they live out in the country with a lot of land. However what makes my family unique is that we are united by our animals. We all have a deep passion for animals and treat them just like family whether it's our dogs, cats, or horses. I haven't taken any science classes except for the …show more content…
I'm taking this course because in college I'm going to major in biology. This is typical for a pre-med applicant because I want to become a doctor. I like working with my hands so I either want to become a Orthopedic Surgeon or a Anesthesiologist like my Aunt Lauren. I hope to accomplish/gain the knowledge to prepare myself for college. This way during college it will be more of a review from taking an AP level biology during high school instead of a complete rush of knowledge. It will be a long road but I'm motivated by the end goal. In this course I'm anxious to learn about how organisms' bodies function like a system. This is because I can apply this to my future career. This leads me to being excited for the pig dissection later in this course. I had no problems with the frog dissection and always find it

In comparison C4 plants, the CO2 is first incorporated into a 4-carbon compound. Their stomata are open during the day and photosynthesis takes place within the inner cells.…

Everyone has a family of some kind. It may be the parents and siblings they were born with, or it could be a gang of six elite drivers with an affinity for robbing banks at high speeds. Ultimately, family is what people make of it, and it can be the ‘traditional’ two parents, one brother, one sister, and one dog, or it could be a girl and a baby she was left with. Barbara Kingsolver’s The Bean Trees is the story of a poor Kentucky girl with small town thoughts and big town dreams who escapes her hometown without getting pregnant, but manages by the hand of fate to be left with a child that was never her’s in the first place.…

My dad is a pediatrician, and I have always been interested in medicine, but he always seems to be playing a game of catch up. The disease comes first, then he has the task of fighting it off. Biology is the study of life and living organisms. Non science majors should study biology to have a better understanding of what goes on in the world around us, and how it affects our bodies. In this class, there were many different topics and issues that I was not aware of prior to taking this class. For example, the food Inc. video revealed how certain food companies produce foods that are harmful to our bodies. This was new information to me, and knowing information like this helps us to avoid these foods and live longer and healthier lives.…
