Chapter 14 studies careers in therapeutic exercise. Therapeutic exercise is defined as the “systematic and scientific application of exercise and movement experiences to develop or restore muscular strength, endurance, flexibility, neuromuscular coordination, cardiovascular efficiency, and other health and performance factors” (Lecture). The goals of therapeutic exercise professionals are to help people acquire skills and to restore lost functions that are considered normal or expected for everyday living.
