Unit 1 Psychology Research Paper

Psychology Essay Starting off in unit one, our online class discussed multiple careers in psychology. In order to understand the different careers we had to research a career we were interested in, like a Cognitive Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist. We had to describe the job in a discussion, including salary and a brief description of the job. We also learned about psychology and the history behind it. We watched videos and read online text, then answered questions we had to turn in for a grade. On day one, we watched two videos on the nervous system then took notes on the videos. On day three, we were introduced to the major parts of the brain, like broca area and cerebellum, and the functions. For this, we studied a powerpoint and then created an outline on the part of the brain based on the information provided. On day four, we demonstrated our knowledge of the major parts and functions of the brain. For this, we created a powerpoint with fifteen slides, showing the three major sections of the brain, we had to have pictures on each slides and interesting links we found on different parts of the brain. On day five, we learned about the relationship of the endocrine system to the brain and its regulation of multiple body functions. To do this, we designed a children's book showing our understanding of the endocrine system. The book had to include the adrenal glands and the thymus gland. Our book had to be simplified so children could understand it. We had to have a total of seven pages. On day six, we learned about the different methods of studying the brain. To do this, we looked at a powerpoint and made a list of the different methods of studying the brain. Then we had to create a document showing each research method and write a paragraph briefly explaining how it works and how it helps our understanding of the brain.
