When Whitney is first introduced he is innocent character being confronted by Federal Agents. Through his skill he has power over the wealthy and influential. We learn about Maximus's service through a prime minister. Who admits to the married couple that Maximus helped him get rid of his wife. "That if it weren't for your-er-assistance he would still be married, most unhappily, to his first wife." For the time that the story takes place Maximus's plan is perfect, no one would go to the police if the poison had failed because they would be arrested.
The biggest difference between our characters is where they lived and when the stories take place. Whitney is our modern-day criminal who takes advantage of the system with his skill of hypnosis. While Maximus is our criminal from the past using a unique skill that few have mastered at the time. Using their skills to the fullest potential in a way no one would think of using those skills. They are men that think outside the box, they are cool, calm, and collected covering all their bases and get away with their crimes with no one knowing any better.
Whitney and Maximus are dangerous men, they share many things in common, a lust for wealth and a drive to accomplish their goals. They use and manipulate their wealthy victims because they it is easy. They have multiple victims and will kept taking advantage of them event after they become
