Vietnam War has ended for more than 40 years but its controversial beliefs and perspectives still remain inconclusive. Since I have been approached some American who either live in America or Vietnam, and repetitively asked about the concept of Vietnam War as a Vietnamese, I would like to use this essay as a discussion about the significant differences between what the American and Vietnamese have believed in and how I can affect changes, even the modest ones, from my perspectives.
The name of the war is of the most debatable topic. The American call it “Vietnam War” because they believe that war is a more, or an absolute, civil war. On the other hand, the Vietnamese, including me, call it “The Defensive War Against American Army” when translating it directly from Vietnamese into English. Google has written: “The causes of the Vietnam War revolve around the simple belief held by America that Communism was threatening to expand all over Southeast Asia.”, which was the underlying reason leading to the division of my country into two parts: The North was and still in Communism side and wanted to unite the country while the South was lured into an opposite one by the U.S..
