Are you aware of the name of the first high school basketball prodigy who went from high school straight to the professional level? His name was Moses Malone, and he was not drafted into the NBA,(National Basketball Association) but into the ABA (American Basketball Association) once the NBA’s top contender in the world of basketball, especially in the mid to late 1900s. The ABA is very well known for grooming some of the most highly touted basketball prospects in the late 20th century. College offers a full education, and helps these kids grow into men. High school basketball players shouldn’t be granted access to the NBA or any professional basketball league without at least one year at a university because it forfeits education, the athlete’s …show more content…
In the 2011-2012 NBA season Curry averaged 14.7 points per game, now in the 2013-2014 season he averaged 24 points. And in the 2014-2015 NBA season Mr. Curry was awarded the league’s MVP award. The MVP award is granted to the “Most Valuable Player”, which is the league’s best player. Over those years Curry develop those talents and his now ten points per game better, and now is the reigning MVP. Curry became stronger during his college years, that is what makes him so talented in the present day. Elite college basketball programs will do all they can to develop a young player into becoming the best possible player he can be. Some say that college would be a waste of time for these athletes because it's all about the money. The money making portion is only half the picture. Look at all the other experiences colleges offer for their students. The experience to get a fantastic education , along with meeting new people. Earning money and playing professional basketball is what most basketball players dream of ever since they could shoot the ball. After the first few years pass, here comes the second contract. Which is usually the biggest payout, or contract for NBA players. Being the best you can be over those first few years is crucial for getting that huge payday they all dream of. Saying these players are broke financially in college is true, although boosters of the basketball program are known to violate NCAA rules and help those athletes out.
