Some say that college would be a waste of time for these athletes because it's all about the money. The money making portion is only half the picture. Look at all the other experiences colleges offer for their students. The experience to get a fantastic education , along with meeting new people. Earning money and playing professional basketball is what most basketball players dream of ever since they could shoot the ball. After the first few years pass, here comes the second contract. Which is usually the biggest payout, or contract for NBA players. Being the best you can be over those first few years is crucial for getting that huge payday they all dream of. Saying these players are broke financially in college is true, although boosters of the basketball program are known to violate NCAA rules and help those athletes out.
