Climate change is a problem that threatens all life on earth because if humans use up all the natural resources provided by earth we will destroy our planet. The cause of global warming or climate change is referred to by scientists as the greenhouse effect. In layman 's terms the greenhouse effect is the process in which “sunlight passes through the atmosphere and warms the earth’s surface”(nasa). This heat then bounces off the surface of the earth and back towards space. But “most of the outgoing heat is absorbed by greenhouse gas molecules and re-emitted in all directions, warming the surface of the earth and lower atmosphere”(nasa). The greenhouse gases causing global warming include Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4), and Nitrous Oxide (N2O). All these gases are introduced into the atmosphere naturally Carbon Dioxide for example, is introduced through respiration and volcanic eruption. While methane is introduced through livestock and through the decomposition of waste. The natural process of introduction of these gases to the atmosphere has been happening since the beginning of all life on earth so why is global warming happening now? It’s happening now because humans are “overloading our atmosphere with carbon dioxide” through “the fossil fuels we burn for energy coal, natural gas, and oil”(UCS). So what does this mean for the planet and for future generations? The effects of climate change are already taking place while climate change will affect all regions of…
