Classical Management Theory was opined in the late 19th century. It became prevalent in the first half of the 20th century, as companies sought to address concerns related to industrial management, like specialization, higher quality, efficiency, management-worker relationships and cost reduction. Whereas other management theories have advanced ever since, classical management tactics are still used today by several companies to grow their companies and to succeed. A good initiative is that, Google trains and empowers its employees to be smart creatives (Backer, 1998).

For each management group, it has its individual objectives and responsibilities. Alphabet’s top management is typically consists of the board of directors and the chief executives who are in charge of the long-term goals of the group. Alphabet’s middle management manages the supervisors, setting department goals as per the approved budget. Lastly, at the lowest management level are the supervisors who supervise day-to-day operational activities, tackle employee issues and offer employee training. Additionally, the levels of leadership and responsibilities are very clear and unequivocal (Cole, 2004). Whereas the three-level management structure at Alphabet benefits it thus allowing it to expand. Google’s principle called, “the rule of seven” and formal organization chart works best for them to enhance its operations and achievement of objectives.
Division of Labor
By embracing the classical management approach, Alphabet is able to leverage on the division of labor. At Google, projects are usually broken down into reduced tasks that are easy to accomplish. Google employees' accountabilities and expectations are evidently defined. Hence, with this approach, it allows employees to focus on their field of expertise and to concentrate in the single area. Thus, they work harder and become much productive since they are appreciated and have an incentive to look forward to. This provides Google management with easier control over its staff. Employees feel valued when being compensated for hard work. It also gives its employees plenty of freedom and utilizes communication as a tool to keep everyone marching forward in the same direction and a unified manner (Quatro, 2004). Google also holds TGIF meetings each Friday afternoon, where informal meetings are done in small teams.
Autocratic Leadership
The autocratic leadership approach applied at Google is the fundamental part of classical management theory. This approach ensures that Alphabet Company has a single leader supported by other competent persons to plan, make decisions, ensure appropriate staffing needs are met, to organize, and direct the Google employees. Totally, all decisions are made at the top level and thereafter communicated downward. Decisions regarding strategies are made quickly and the strong leadership allows it to prosper (Stoner, 1996).
Administrative Management, which at Alphabet accentuates the flow of information within the company. Therefore, classical scientific branch allows Google to increase its productivity and efficiency.
