Childhood sexual abuse and assault is a very large problem in the world. There is no universal definition of child sexual abuse. Some studies show sexual abuse consists of sexual body contact with a child, but some believe sexual abuse is any sexual behavior in front of a kid. Nevertheless, childhood sexual abuse has a negative impact on kids. Children have the right to be protected from being hurt and mistreated, physically or mentally. There needs to be more ways to protect children from sexual abuse and assault. One way is to teach school aged children, using school based programs about child sexual abuse and assault. Also, how to teach them to protect themselves from this abuse. It is important to know if this method works and for how long, also if it could cause any unintended harm to children and youth. The study showed improvement in knowledge and protective behaviors among children and youth who had received school based programs, but it also showed harm in some children with an increase of anxiety. School based programs should be seen as part of a community approach to prevent child sexual abuse and assault. It is shown that children who have experienced some sort of sexual abuse or assault are more likely to having depression, suicidal behavior, eating disorders, or even drug and alcohol abuse later in life and are more likely to become victims again as adults. .
