The United States is one of the biggest countries that has the issue of child labor. There are children all ages who have to do extremely difficult work for very little pay. This is a huge problem in the world that most people just look past. For the people that child labor effects however, it makes life very difficult which is how it relates to globalization. Families who are less fortunate and have no other choice to do this work for minimal pay, usually have to have their children begin working as soon as they are capable of doing the work. There are so many different groups of people in this country. The way this video relates to a pluralistic society is that is shows one of the many different types of groups and how they live their life. I learned from the video that there is no guaranteed minimum wage for the adults and children doing the crop picking and there is also no overtime. Most of these workers have to work 12+ hour days and may only come home with 40 dollars. There are people in the U.S complaining that 7 dollars an hour isn’t enough of an hourly pay to work at McDonalds, but then you have these migrants busting their back just to make a dollar or even less an hour. That shows how different groups of people can be and how much people can take things for granted. As I mentioned before the children may have to begin work as little as the age of 6, maybe even younger. The work they have to do is very unhealthy and dangerous. From things like pesticides, weather, exhaustion, it really gets at these workers physically and mentally. From working such long days every day, every year, over and over again, it can hurt you when you begin to get older. You may get a lot weaker, or even worse, unable to work at all. Not being able to work and being in situations financially they are in can really hurt your family’s chances of making it financially. It also is a scary thought putting your own children through this knowing that it is very likely they will happen to them as they grow and their children after that. Even if you get sick you would probably still have to go out and work just as if you were at your healthiest. Once the area the migrants are in is out of work, they will have to go on the road to somewhere that they can work so that they do not run out of money. That is also a risk considering they probably don’t have reliable transportation and they could easily get stuck from a broken down vehicle and be stranded for who knows how long. It really is a scary thought to think about, but this happens
