Chief Satanta was an Indian from the Kiowa tribe he was born in 1820 and died in 1878. He developed a reputation as an outstanding warrior and when he was in his twenties he was named a sub chief of his tribe. He earned enduring fame for his use of an army bugle to confuse the troops in battle. Satanta was born the son of Chief Red Tipi and a spanish captive and spent his youth south of the Arkansas River enjoying the peaceful alliance between the Kiowa and Comanche tribes. Satanta was one of the best leaders in his tribe. In 1873 Satanta attacked two buffalo hunter he was captured and sent to prison.
His people call him the orator of the plains, Satanta was born on the northern Plains, but later migrated to the southern Plains with his people. As a baby satanta was known as big ribs for his physique. All of the men in the tribe were aloud to get married at age 20 but satanta’s father made him wait until he was 30 but when he turned 30 he still didn't want to get married.
