Freddie Gray, 25 years old, was being transported in a police van after being charged with possession of an illegal switchblade. He was beaten by police while being transported to the prison, leaving him in a coma where he later died from his injuries. In the wake of Freddie Gray’s funeral riots broke out in Baltimore, buildings were looted and burned down, and rioters threw glass bottles and rocks at the police. After many hours of protest and unrest in the city the Mayor called a State of Emergency. The National Guard was dispatched to Baltimore and a one week curfew was set from 10pm to 5am.
This CNN article was very helpful. This is a very reliable source, CNN News is one of the biggest and most popular news outlets in the United States of America. CNN News is an objective source of information and is not biased in anyway. The goal of this article was to spread awareness of what happened in Baltimore due to police brutality. This fits in my research because it involves police brutality. This hasn’t changed how I feel about police brutality because I still feel that the Police like to pick on blacks and middle eastern people.
