Weight loss happens because the body is not able to digest glucose, so the body then uses other “fuels stored in the muscle and fat” (“Type 2 Diabetes”). Another symptom that is cause because of type 2 diabetes is excessive urination and thirst. This is caused because “sugar building up in your bloodstream causes fluid to be pulled from the tissue” (“Type 2 Diabetes”). Thus, making a person feel thirstier and causing them to urinate more than usual. Blurred vision is another general symptom. This happens because as sugar increases, fluid is then taken “from the lenses of your eyes”, affecting one’s ability to focus (“Type 2 Diabetes”).
However, Type 2 diabetes also has different symptoms depending on gender. Symptoms in men and women are generally the same except for a few exceptions. For example, a symptom in men is that “diabetes causes sexual function problems…due to damage to the body’s autonomic nervous system (ANS)” (Ingrid Strauch). The autonomic nervous system is a part of the nervous system of people, that controls forced actions of the body. For women the symptom they have that men usually do not have would be that women with type 2 diabetes are “at increased risk for vaginal yeast infections”
