Open Adoption
The Triad of an Open Adoption Each one needs someone to rely on, someone who will always love and care about, needs to love and to be loved back. And this kind of love can only be fulfilled by the family love. But what about those who are in lack of this kind of love? What about a childhood with no parents? Or even with no child? Well, in order to fill this emptiness that some of us live, and to resolve the problem of incomplete families , adoption is the best solution. Adoptive parents are satisfied by the interaction with the birthmothers because it leads to higher level of self-disclosure, empathy, respect and regard.(Frasch, Brooks& Barks , 2000). They also did studies on adoptive parents concluding that the majority of adoptive parents are satisfied with the level of openness of their adoption because they build a strong relationship with the adoptive child.
Open Adoption
Moreover, open adoption empowers the new parents to participate in the process of adoption. It permits them to settle on choices in regards to the measure of openness they wish to have. By method for classes, readings, and boards the new parents take in more about selection and birthparents. By encountering openness, the new parents come to know the birthparents as genuine individuals. They are no more seen as a risk. The new parents pick up an inclination of qualification to parent from the birthparents(Chapman, et al.).
In addition, adoptive parents will be more comfortable with answering child's question and with the interaction with birthparents because they already know each other's and they already have complete information(Berry, 1993). Plus, adoptive parents will have a trustworthy relationship with their infant because they told them the truth and they are taking him to meet their biological parents(Siegel, …show more content…
In this way, open adoption should be supported and encouraged.
