Do humans idolize tangible objects? It is safe to say that no one in today’s society thinks of themselves as materialistic person. The shocking reality is that everyone in Capitalist societies idolizes material things; unconsciously material possessions have become the god that consumers idolize. Corporations are responsible for this because they offer tangible objects that appear to be essential to obtain happiness and fulfillment. Shopping Centers have become the new temple where people go to idolize their god. The shiny creature has an arrogant-like posture and it has its arms crossed and it wears a golden crown. The creature symbolizes the power and ruling of the corporation's owners over the rest of the world. Since there are very few individuals that have access to the incredible wealth that corporations provide, they have clearly major advantages over everyone else. These are the characteristics of The Power Elite, also known as, “The One Percent”. As described by Forbers, “Those people [The One Percent] have incomes of over $27 million, or roughly 540 times the national average income” (citation). The affluence that corporation owners possess allows them to have privileges that can be utilized against regular people. Such privileges include: the breaking of laws without being pushed or control over people with less wealth. In addition, it is important to take into account, where the creature is positioned; it stands tall on top of the dumpster with its eyes staring at the viewer. The reason why the marble creature stands in the middle of the dumpster is because it is in charge of looking after the trash, meaning it is looking after the industries and factories that produce millions of goods that then are sold to consumers around the globe.
