There is no doubt that execution is an extreme punishment for a crime. Today, it’s one of the most debated issues in the Criminal Justice System or the Capital Punishment (the death penalty). Capital punishment its use today and back in ancient times to punish certain crimes. Also the bible prescribes that death for murdered other crimes like kidnapping and witchcraft. The alternative to execution is to have a life in prison with no parole. Still most of the nation has the death penalty this law is governor state by state. This debate over capital punishment includes justice, religion and morality. Capital punishment was legal in till 1972, when the Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional in the case Furman vs. Georgia saying it violated the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments citing a cruel and unusual punishment. Then during the 1976 case of Gregg vs. Georgia the Supreme Court reversed itself again and reinstated the penalty but not have the death penalty. Since Parliament put more things to capital offences, which lead to the increase the number of people being executed. In 1740 -1839 a total of 8753 people were executed in England and in Wales, not due to American War of Independence and in the 1800’s there was a nine million people in the world.
