Tea tree has anti-bacterial properties that effectively cleanse the sore and promote healing. The more bacteria that are around, the more painful your sore will feel. Your tea tree mouthwash can be created by adding a few drops of tea tree oil to a warm cup of water. Use the mixture to remove any bacteria in your mouth by swishing it throughout your mouth. While tea tree oil is not harmful in small amounts, it is still important to avoid swallowing any of the mouthwash.
