Parenting Makes A Fretful Baby Essay

Improved Essays
I guess one of the most challenging parts of parenting is soothing a crying baby. In fact, many parents find themselves at a loss as to why their baby is crying all the time. Is the baby really a fretful baby or is he telling you something?

Babies usually cry for a reason. Although there are babies that are more fretful and more sensitive than others, the most common reasons for crying are the following:

1. Hunger

Feeding the baby should be done every after 4 hours or so. Their little tummy can only hold a bit of milk at a time. This is why they get hungry easily.

2. Discomfort

Your little one can be uncomfortable due to a dirty, leaky or a smelly diaper. Choose the best diaper that can seal moisture in and prevent rashes. Discomfort can also be caused by an uncomfortable mattress. Choose a mattress that can provide utmost comfort and support to your baby's body.

Room temperature is not good

If it is too cold or too warm in the room, your baby will have trouble going to sleep. Make sure there is proper ventilation in the room. You might also want to install a dehumidifier close to the crib.

Try buying a baby monitor with features that show temperature. This will allow you to determine the right temperature in your baby's room.

6. Growing teeth

One of the uncomfortable parts of your baby's life is when a tooth is growing. It is painful and itchy. You can try purchasing a teether so your baby can chew on the toy when the discomfort becomes too unbearable.

Ice cubes also help. Get an ice cube and wrap a handkerchief around it. Use it to numb out the gum of your baby.

7. Cannot breathe properly due to flu

Is your baby suffering from flu? Babies also suffer from clogged nose when afflicted with flu. Consult your baby's pediatrician about the best medicines and products that can help abate flu symptoms. It also helps to massage a mentholated treatment on your baby's chest and back to ease up their breathing.

8. Insect bites or skin

As a matter of fact I started way before Madison got her first tooth, because I would use a soft wash cloth and wipe her gums. Breastfeeding is an individual choice and one that should be made prior to the arrival of your baby, if at all possible. If you decide beforehand, you can prepare yourself for all of the rebuttals you will need that will attempt to dissuade you from one of the most beautiful perks of motherhood - breastfeeding. I chose to nurse for various reasons, but at the top of the list were: economics, emotional bonding, and convenience.
