The Khmer Rouge were cambodians communist took control of the Cambodian government in 1975, they strived to make the country into a communist agrarian utopia. In reality, they emptied the cities and evacuated millions of people to labor camps where they were starved and abused. Teachers and doctors and very smart people, as well as monks and the rich anyone else in that position of having wealth were torchered and killed. It is estimated that between 1.7 and 2 million Cambodians died during the 4 year reign of the Khmer Rouge movement. This was very bad time for cambodia at the time, the genocide affected them. Another grouping is Us versus the Enemy. The Khmer Rouge thought that anyone who disagreed with their ideas was a threat and an “enemy.” that was simulare in ways with germany because if they carried about the jews they were considerd not apart of the movement and they were exuctuted. Preperations for the khmer Rouge was that they relied on there allies most of the time and exucted cambodian civilians that were trained by the vietnamies. In the holicust though they didnt want to rely on other allies because half the time they did not trust know one else but themselfs. Thats what made the holicust so sussesful most of the time because they avoided conflict with others most of the time.
