Business Model and Strategic Plan Part II: SWOTT Analysis
The Nike Adjust will require a new division of Nike, Inc. to be formed which will provide customer focus specifically for those in need of the new product. The mission, vision and values of the Nike Adjust division will mirror and expand on Nike, Inc.’s current mission, vision and overall values while also adding to them. * One of Nike’s greatest resources (and therefore strengths) is their ability to manufacture wherever they can produce high quality product at the lowest possible price. They are able to accomplish this because they have no factories (Friesner, 2014). * The Nike Adjust is an attractive product with great potential for profitability for the Nike organization as a whole. (See Table A for all Strengths)
Weaknesses are the next factor analyzed for the Nike Adjust division. One of the weaknesses involved in this project would be the cost. Some of these costs could include tests, design, production, and of course marketing the product. Several other weaknesses noted are: * Although Nike has a strong commitment to product innovation, their strong brand can sometimes be seen as exploitative and greedy. * Nike’s promotion of eco-friendly products and materials (i.e. packaging) can be costly and drive up the cost for materials. * Nike must have the medical resources (podiatrists, pharmacists) available to issue the Adjust brand. (See Table A for full list)
There would have to be ample research done to make sure there is an external need for this type of product, therefore leading to the next factors of SWOTT.
Through research, if it is determined that the general consumer would prefer a shoe that is custom fit to their individual needs, this would be a great opportunity for Nike. Other
