Bullying is the school systems in the United States, has become a major concern of parents, educators, and the legislators. One out of four kids attending school is being bullied on a regular basis. Also, bullying can take place randomly, weekly, or daily in the locker rooms, on buses, hallways, cafeteria and the restrooms at school. Additionally, a study on Health and Behavior on school age children revealed that thirty percent of children in grades ranging from the sixth to tenth grade reported bullying other students, or being the target of bullies or both (Whitted & Rupper, 2005). My daughter was a victim of bullying in the school system, and the issue of bullying is a great concern of mines. No child should have to suffer through this horrific and degrading act that is being forced upon them. Furthermore, the child that is being bullied, becomes fearful of going to school, a change in eating habits, grades start to decline, constantly complaining of stomach and headaches on a consistent basis are some signs that a child is the victim of bullying (Hellwig, n.d, para.7). However, the parents and the community as a whole can get involved to combat and help prevent bullying in the schools. Education and communication, along with policy put in place at schools is a great way to prevent bullying in the school system. Education is very important as it relates to bullying in the schools, as well as various strategies that can assist including school-level interventions…
