In order to build these physical walls stretching miles and miles, money has to be spent. Furthermore, the land itself has to be considered. Not only will money become an issue or even a barrier, but infuriated citizens, communities and environmentalist will not be at rest. The walls will tear communities apart and disrupt conservation of the natural world. Many terrains such as mountains and valleys, Native American Reservations, etc, become an obstacle as well. For instance, newly elected president Donald J. Trump has focused a great deal on building a wall at the border separating the United States and Mexico. This wall Trump is so determined to build is estimated to be 19 billions dollars, and that’s just the concrete alone. Overall, the wall could sum up to as high as 25 billion dollars. Including immigration, money, the people and natural landforms, the accumulation of problems only rises. If high ranked government officials as such can spend much time and effort on a wall, that has no certain potential of terminating illegal immigration, why can they not focus slightly on paths to legal statuses and citizenship that does hold potential regarding those who do cross with good intentions? Because they are choosing to not participate in smuggling drugs, breaking laws, cause disruption, etc., they are given little attention when compared with those individuals who do involve themselves with far worse illegal activities. Most of these immigrant’s only crime is illegally entering another country. Border control and walls become a barrier to their entrance but it does not, in any way, take away the determination to nevertheless find a new land of opportunity, a new land of freedom, and a new land to call home. The idea of gaining success begins with equal opportunities, it begins with the chance to be prosper through hard work, through dedication and through determination. The American Dream filled with freedom and privilege is what influences many to the United States just as other nations have their own attractions. Guaranteed by our founding fathers, “the unalienable rights … [of] Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” has opened a doorway of opportunity to immigrants. The determination and strong will from those in search of a better life, are just as tough at the concrete walls separating them from their opportunities.
