After WW2, Germany was split up into 4 sectors;
-The French -The United States -The Soviet Union and -Great Britain
These 4 countries all felt threatened by one another so France, The United States and Great Britain all teamed up creating West Berlin, a democracy built state while the Soviet Union was left creating the GDR (German Democratic Republic – East Germany) a communist built state. By June 15, the GDR, head of the East Republic Walter Ulbricht, had declared out of nowhere that they had no intention of building a wall even though nothing about a wall has been brought up before, but on the 12th of august the GDR council had announced that;
