The documentary ‘Zombie: Haiti’s Longstanding Tradition’ (Zombie: Haiti’s Longstanding Tradition, 2005) contained information regarding the original Haitian version of Zombies and how they are created. Some other things also featured in this film include how “zombie powder” is made, how people are brought back from the brink of death, and how people are forced to become these “zombies” so that people may use them as slaves. The idea of zombies has been a part of our world since the 8th century. In fact, the word zombie has been derived from zonbi, which was “used in the Louisiana Creole or the Haitian Creole that represents a person who died and was then brought to life without speech or free will,” (Ahmadmad, 2013).…
Agent Swan had remained true to her word and the very next day, work on repairing Anna’s injuries began. She had several metal brackets and pins put into her leg to help stabilize it and her old injuries were also looked at and repaired properly. After work had been completed on setting Anna’s bones right again, she began to undergo treatment as I had done when first administered the cure. Slowly, as her tissues and muscles began to heal and rejuvenate themselves, Anna’s immune system came back with a vengeance and began to fight off the disease that tried to keep itself hidden within her. Her rapid acceleration towards the realm of the living even helped to heal the wound left in her leg by her femur break.…

The concept of zombie did not arrive into the North American populace till the late 1920s (Christie 2011, p. 10). It is from there that the concept of zombie underwent a considerable amount of evolution. The original need to serve was replaced with an insatiable instinct to feed off living flesh (Christie 2011, p. 7). In addition, its concept of its creation was replaced by events such as biological and chemical calamities. Whereby, hordes of zombies are created through bites, scratches or contact with contaminated bodily fluids.…
Are zombies a myth, something we tell people to scare them or to explain the end of the world, or are they real? If you ever look up the word zombie you would know that one of the definitions, they use to describe zombie is a person who is or seams lifeless, apathetic, or completely unresponsive to their surroundings. If you look around you them, you would see that our society is already turning into a zombified world. The people in our society just walk around on their phones or lessoning to their music, not paying any attention to the world around them. I know this isn’t exactly the way most people would describe a zombie.…

The word “oblivious” helped me understand the article a bit more. It helped me more, because the word “oblivious” means they are completely unaware of their surroundings and what is going on around them and that is basically the meaning of a smartphone zombie. I feel like I could benefit from the first paragraph because of the descriptive language. Mostly because, when I read anything usually I use context clues to help me figure out what I’m reading in more depth and to actually know what I’m reading. EVen though the term “smartphone zombie” gave it away.…
Bad times are inevitable in everybody’s lives, but some question: what good can come from the bad? First published on April 7, 2014, the article “What Suffering Does,” by New York Times columnist and PBS News Hour commentator, David Brooks, digs into this idea through claims that suffering plays a major role in people’s lives because it helps them grow as people (Behrens). Brooks states that happiness is just one piece of “the human drama” and suffering is the other (Behrens). Brooks’ topic of discussion is relevant in everyone’s lives because it is a topic everyone experiences first-hand, and he logically argues through examples that support his claims throughout the article. Brooks’ biggest points are that suffering provides opportunities to get an outsider’s point of view, better understand what others are experiencing, and help people learn more about themselves (567).…
In this kind of generation, I can’t tell you enough how people want some type of weapon and start bashing on zombies. They have no type of regard that if dead ever did start walking this earth, they’re in no condition to actually combat it. With the new Millennia passing us up with new movies and video games portraying different types of walking dead, the common zombie was transformed. No longer did we have the casual skeleton or corpse being controlled by wizards or the apocalypse reigning from the heavens, they’re definitely more to that now. The Animated Dead, class 4 with a touch of pathogen that everyone affected is what we’re specifically talking about.…
Before outlining our proposed strategies for surviving the zombie apocalypse, we first need to discuss zombie physiology: what physical and mental constraints and capabilities they have, what assumptions we can make about their nature, how they perceive their surroundings, and, most importantly, what can kill them. In this discussion, we will rely heavily on the material in the Zombie Survival Assumptions and Constraints handout for this project. Starting at the top of the handout, we know that zombies “do not require food, water, or air,” and they “do not feel pain, fear, or empathy.” These two statements combine together to form an important conclusion: zombies will be indomitable assailants that lack many of the weaknesses that the surviving…
Where did our twenty-first century incarnations of the zombie come from, and how did they develop as time elapsed? James Parker’s “Our Zombies, Ourselves” discusses several of the past and present zombies, their stereotypical designs, and how different medias portray society’s definition of a zombie. One of the first subjects Parker covers is that of society’s preconception of the undead. We, and apparently everyone else dating back to the early 1900s, imagine the zombie as abysmally lethargic, with greyed skin, mutilated limbs, and an unending desire to consume living flesh. Parker regales the reader with a tale of the zombie’s evolution through poetry, books, movies, television, and even songs.…
There are several legends or just stories regarding monsters that we have known since we were children and they have frightened us since we were young into our early teenage years. But if we really think about it, what might these monsters represent or why do we even have monsters. Authors attempted to look into the world of monsters more and attempt to identify more of what the monsters could symbolize or what they can represent regarding us, humankind. In other words, the authors explain their perspectives on how do monsters and their existence affect us, how do they represent what we are here for and more. Using the articles “My Zombie, Myself: Why Modern Life Feels Rather Undead,” “Cursed by a Bite,” and “Monsters and Messiahs” I will help…
As seen in the movie, the zombie population is getting bigger and bigger every day because they would never find the root of the problem of why humans became zombies and see if they can find a cure, they just see zombies and adapt to killing them, when really that it isn’t the solution. Finally, R and Jules are able to see that the zombies do have a cure and it’s very simple, no need for a complex cure, all they needed was love. This can also reflect in our world today, if all we do is push aside our obstacles in life and not find the root of our problems, they will end up coming back into our lives in one way or another, but if we find the root we can achieve many great thing in life and learn from our obstacles. For example, Klosterman finishes his article by saying, “The zombies you kill today will merely be replaced by the zombies of tomorrow. But you can do this, my friend.…
Viruses; Who is the Beholder? The greatest threat to humanity can’t be seen by the untrained eye. It could lay dormant for millions of years and evolve into the most terrifying form of itself. These infectious viruses create worldwide terror. The 2011 film Contagion by Steven Soderbergh does an incredible but also frightening job of revealing how a lethal virus would impact the Earth.…
