When looking at these two scenes we also notice that we do not actually see anything that is happening to the women, we know they are vomiting or passing a bowel movement but we do not see the vomit or anything else, in this scene I Love You Man we see Peter puking all over Favereau’s character. It seems like movies that star men need to bring gross-out comedy to the highest point we can bring it to since it is expected from these films. If we had only been told this happened it would not have had the same comedic appeal, or even if Rudd’s character had puked in a toilet (where we could not see what was actually happening) it would not have had any comedic appeal to the …show more content…
Bridesmaids shows this stereotype with Helen (Rose Byrne) since she always seems to be perfectly dressed and throughout the film we never see her without perfect makeup and hair completely fixed. However we also see the complete other side of the spectrum with Megan (Melissa McCarthy)this character does not wear makeup throughout the film other than during the wedding, and she also does not dress very femininely she wears ill-fitting clothing and mostly wears pants and no dresses. She is the complete opposite of Helen and the stereotype that women have. A woman who does not dress perfect in a film is normally portrayed as a lesbian since they are not feminine enough to be straight, however this film removes those boundaries since Megan is not a very feminine woman yet she still ends up with the air marshal. Although it may seem like she doesn’t care about how she looks and acts the reality of this is that she is comfortable in her own skin and allows herself to dress and look comfortable so that she doesn’t have to dress and be someone that she isn’t. Helen on the other hand is always in heels and dresses and cannot be comfortable all for the time but she suffers comfort for fashion since that is her priority when Megan’s is the exact opposite. The
