I hear a gunshot I start to run as fast as I could I see my brother who is 2 years younger than me he can’t run as fast. he falls down on the ground. Hurt crying and I try to help him up but im only 12 I can’t do anything they catch us… We left our homeland that day South africa on March 26th. My mom calls out to me “George take care of your brother,” then calls my brother Paul. she said “ I will love you always… On our way to a new place I think to myself. Them I hear the captain saying to his men “ Set sail to British North America that’’s where where we sell that negroes and get our pounds” I was so scared I was going be sold to a man like I was some belonging they own they captured us they don’t own us. 2 months is was deadly so bad I saw people get diseased with scurvy, some were vomiting over the boat sea sick I was afraid to catch the the fever, but good thing I got the first 10 picks from food first. I’m scared, hopeless, lost, can’t think straight, I have to stay alive.
