While, some claim that police use excessive force in cases like Francis Pusok, San Bernadino man beaten by police after fleeing by car, horseback and foot after police tried to arrest him for trespassing. Police thought the man was a threat to others, and shouldn’t be criticized for doing their job. Francis settled with the San Bernadino County deputies for payout of $645,000 for wrong doing reported by the LA Times. They also reported he had been charged several times for resisting arrest and being aggressive towards officers in recent years. Police don’t want to have to hurt anyone and don’t intend to shoot someone, unless they feel that the perpetrator could harm themselves or another person. Every encounter for a police officer is a potentially dangerous one. Police even has to worry at just a normal traffic stop. Police are often decimated and have even been refused service at restaurants, like the Strawn, deputy, Michael Margovern who was refused serviced at a local Whataburger when he was working traffic control at a construction site in Lewisville. Margovern was just trying to get food before work reported by Fox News. Ironic, they are refused service, because they don’t serve police officers. If someone was to come into Whataburger with a gun, the police officers would be the first ones to respond.
Law enforcement officers have a difficult job, with never knowing what to expect each any every day as they report to work. Officers have a huge insight in the role of the community beyond law enforcement. Their ability to be able to listen to others, help them understand and ability to also gain knowledge of others in order to come to resolution of the problem, is highly respectable. They know very little about each person they help out or they are dealing with, and the background of that person. Police also demonstrate high levels of honesty and integrity
