David was in one of the highest places of power when he sexually assaulted Bathsheba, being the king. Power corrupts people. Power is intoxicating, even to those, like David, who were once great men. Power, for whatever reason, can change people in such a way that they may once be one of the most humble and caring people around, but once they gain power they no longer care about others and how they may be hurting them. When the mom of one of his victims contacted him a year after the assault, he covered it up by offering to not only pay for her college, but therapy and a trip to Florida as well. Also, in the trial Cosby and his lawyer still tried to make what he did “okay” by saying that the victim only wanted “money, money and lots more money.” They insinuate that if Cosby was not the man he was, a man of power and wealth, there would be no trial. Just like in the story of David and Bathsheba, Cosby and many other men made several attempts to cover up what they did. Furthermore, in the case of Cosby, he and his lawyer are still trying to cover up what he did by blaming the victim. Either way, Cosby has been convicted guilty of his crimes, and though it would be the best option for both him and his victims if would just repent what he has done, he probably never will. It is better, not only in the eyes of God, but the eyes of those who once respected one as well, to just confess to the crimes one has committed. In the story of David and Bathsheba we can blatantly see that though one may be successful in covering up what they have done, it still is not right and the consequences of the crimes will be
