The economic opportunities that would result from implementing a foster care organization that connects foster children with the perfect match for a safe home is access to a safe living environment and increased opportunity for families to provide a healthy lifestyle for young children. “Over 400,000 American children are in foster care, approximately 102,000 foster children are up for adoption, and about 1 in every 184 children in the U.S. are in the foster care system” (fosterclub.com). With this, the U.S. is strongly in need of foster families, and through the creation of this organization, the economic opportunity of accessing safe living is achievable. As the number of foster care children continues to increase, there is an even greater need for more foster families to provide a safe home for these children. “On September 30, 2014, there were an estimated 415,129 children in foster care. More than a quarter (29 percent) were in relative homes, and nearly half (46 percent) were in nonrelative foster family homes. About half (55 percent) had a case goal of reunification with their families. About half (51 percent) of the children who left foster care in FY 2014 were discharged to be reunited with their parents or primary caretakers. Close to half of the children (46 percent) who left foster care in FY 2014 were in care for less than 1 year” (https://www.childwelfare.gov/pubPDFs/foster.pdf). These demographics raise hope in the idea that whether these children were in a relative’s home or a non-relatives home they were in a safe living situation until they could be re-united with their parents or guardians. The goal of the organization is not to keep these children from their parents or guardians rather they are there to assist in a time of need for a safe environment for foster children.

The business structure I would use to implement a solution is Non-Profit Corporation. As a non-profit corporation I can rely on capital through donations and will fully recognize that the profits are not for private gain rather they will be used for the sole mission and purpose of finding a safe home for foster children. A Family for Every Child is a local non-profit organization of Lane County, which seeks to find a “forever home” for these special children, and I look up to this organization for its success in finding homes for foster children.
