Whether a person acknowledges it or not people notice a person’s appearance before starting a conversation with them. However, does a person overall body dissatisfaction lead to low self-esteem? According to Triggerman (2011), “Appearance in general and body image in particular have become very important constructs in contemporary Western societies” (p. 32). In this article, the author is trying to prove the connection between a person’s self-esteem and body disaffection. The hypotheses for this article is If a young women, has body disaffection then it is related to her level of low self-esteem. The study consisted of 160 women who were studying there first and second year in college. The age’s ranged from 19 to 21 years of age. Samples were being collected from the different physical activities and classes on the college sample. The sample that was taken was random so the numbers would not be skewed. The results concluded in this study that over 79 percent of woman between ages 19-21 have a hard time accepting their body weight. The number one reason woman in young adulthood are dissatisfied is because they want to lose weight. While only 21 percent of the women actually we pleases with their bodies. In the end, it unfortunate how women at a young age hate their bodies. In the study it proved that everyone has insecurities about their bodies. However, a person has to change there mindset on what they do not like about themselves and focus on what they do like about
