My Community: A Community Analysis

Being something positive in my community has always been a thing i’ve wanted but, not necessarily knew how to accomplish. It wasn’t until I was a freshman in highschool, I had the opportunity to actually be apart of an institution with a positive outcome. My family had been at a financial crisis, where my father had been laid off from work and going without work for months. This left my mother to be the only one with a job, while my father had unemployment checks being sent monthly. My father had to humble himself, and one day while driving on the road, we saw a sign that said “ free groceries”. I’ve met some of the rudest and meanest people while distributing food to those in less of need, however It takes putting your eyes in their perspective to understand why they act why they act. Maybe they have no living situation? Maybe a combination of stress and sucking in their own pride to stand in line with other homeless people? Besides working at the salvation army, as a kid I would also go with my church’s youth group and give out sandwiches to the homeless in the streets of San Francisco. We would ask them if they’d like us to pray for them, and If they said no, we’d say it’s totally fine and still give them their food. If they ever did want us to pray for them, we’d never close our eyes while praying because they could of just robbed us and run away. You can create your own institution built around helping others by just giving whatever you think you can give. In my own personal opinion I believe that a community that is more enthusiastic about doing their part, is a community that likely succeeds with a lowering percentage of homeless rates. If it’s not in your nature to go to church, then gather with friends / family and do anything to give back to the community. I believe that this is a problem that institutions can rise up to help treat. I feel this way especially, considering how many years i’ve been active in events similar towards the
