I always lived near the downtown Long Beach- were majority of the city’s homeless population inhabited. Anywhere I went, I would see someone standing asking for money, or performing in hopes of getting some extra change. Some of the adults I saw were parents or grandparents of classmates from my school. After seeing that I was unsure on if I wanted to continue a relationship with my classmates or pretend like they did not exist because of their situation. Around third grade, in my after-school YMCA program, we had Goodwill go and give us a lecture on what they do. They explained that they were there to help out those caught in a financial situation or the homeless. After being able to see what great things programs were able to do for the homeless community and seeing what they did for the homeless community, I came to the conclusion that there should not be a need to end communication to the homeless people. Some of them were my friends from a young age. Kids I played with in the summer following up to my very first day of school. I believe that if there more programs like Goodwill, or the viewpoint that many have for that company were to change, then more people would be able to see that homeless people are people just like you and I. Organizations likes theses is what could be the thing to bring change to the homeless community and need to receive the
