Homelessness: An Ethical Dilemmas In Our World

There are many ethical dilemmas in our world that I wish I had the ability to change. In order to see a major impact in our society we first have to start by fixing the dilemmas around us. One of the biggest concerns in my community currently is homelessness. I see people everyday on the streets being dehumanized and disregarded by the people around them. This is the most important problem I would like to solve. If the same people ignoring the homeless started acknowledging them and helped them, they could literally save lives. I’m not saying we have to give them money because people don’t like the uncertainty of where their money is going. There is so much more we could contribute that could help them even better. I want to personally be more involved in donating my time to get to know these people and help solve their problems. I would like to organize a local soup kitchen and serve the homeless just like they would be served at a restaurant without the costs of dining at one. When I went on a mission trip in Florida three years ago we helped at a local soup kitchen. It was amazing to see just how many people showed up. Most of these people didn’t even come alone, they had children, brothers, sisters, even good friends who were just stuck and needed help. I use to work with a girl who was homeless and she was living out of her friends closet just to have somewhere to sleep at night. She didn’t know how long she would get to stay there so I bought her a sleeping bag, a blanket, and a pillow incase she had to sleep outside again or just in case she didn’t have anything to sleep with at night. She was so happy to receive the gifts from me and seeing her appreciation made me realize, what seems like a little gift to you is a huge need for someone
