Cannabis is able to treat over 170 diseases , including Dravet Syndrome. Which is a rare, severe form of intractable epilepsy. Charlotte Figi suffers from Dravet Syndrome when, she was 2 years old she started having seizures. Her parents tried everything they could ranging from diets to many pharmaceutical drugs. None seemed to work , then amendment 20 was passed in Colorado in 2000. That 's when her parents decided to apply for medical marijuana. They bought cannabidiol oil , or CBD oil, which has no psychoactive properties one of many cannabinoids in the cannabis plant it purely medical no “high” is produced by CBD. Why is it outlawed now? Cannabis started to be banned in the United States in 1910 when Mexican immigrants started coming to the United States bringing marijuana with them. Some of the immigrants started committing crimes, including rape, stealing , sometimes even kidnaping and pedophilia. Each time an immigrant was caught committing crimes, cannabis was somehow blamed or linked to the crime so eventually cannabis became associated with crime. Ranging from addiction to cancer. The cannabis plant fights nausea that happens with chemo patients, but also kills cancer. They do this by promoting the death of cancer cells that have forgot how to die, but cutting of it crucial blood supply to cancerous cells(4/20). Our body can intake either one of these types of cannabinoids and can not tell the difference .
Cannabis prohibition costs over twenty billion dollars annually. This makes up over forty percent of money spent on war against drugs annually . If we were to legalize cannabis we could earn that much money in taxes annually and we would save 20 billion annually by not having to fund the law enforcement costs.
