While this is going to be true in some users the large majority never revert to other drugs and do not become addicted. Many studies have been done but one study by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, found that only nine percent of the 8000 people in the study were found to be dependent on marijuana, while 15 percent of people were dependent on alcohol and 32 percent were dependent on nicotine. The minority of less than 800 people does not outweigh the number of people with cancer or any other life burdening disease. Marijuana is not a gateway drug, especially not in medical users who only seek help from the effects on the body. The most problematic situation for gateway drugs is that marijuana is not regulated. A group of French scientists suggest that the main reason marijuana users do other drugs is because the unregulated dealer also sells other drugs and lures marijuana users to try these hard drugs, but if it were regulated by medical personnel then that would not cause users to do other drugs. Marijuana helps to ease pain in many patients suffering from chronic conditions, and decreases inflammation due to various illnesses. One of the greatest discoveries in marijuana uses is the possibility to stop the growth of cancer cells, this could save hundreds of lives in the future with one pass of a bill. If we can provide enough evidence to support the legalization, then we can begin to save lives and better the living of those whom are suffering. If we cannot pass a law to help societies dying, then more people will fall victim to death, who could have been saved by one natural god given plant,
