The planet is warming at an alarming rate due to human actions. Scientists have been suggested for years that the nations of the planet come together and agree to limit their carbon dioxide pollution and greenhouse houses. Borders will be meaningless as the oceans rise and formerly arable land goes barren. Mass migration and conflict are all inevitable. The interconnectivity our species will be our downfall if we do not address climate change. Money, wealth and fame will be things of the past when the climate begins to alter our way of life permanently. And despite all of the damage that it will cause. Very little is being done to avert this fate.
Klein argues that for too long, humans have been trying to address the symptoms of climate change. We are thinking of band-aid solutions that do not solve the overarching problem. For Klein, the true cause of climate change is the global economic system based on capitalism. Capitalism has become the dominant economic scheme throughout the world. This has led to climate change according to Klein. Capitalism and the environment have been at war for a long a time. In the end, the environment will win out. The climate change and capitalism will be impossible but at that point, humans will have lost
