Men’s Rights Activists and people that claim that rape culture isn’t real, like Caroline Kitchens, are continuously fighting tooth and nail to end the various social justice movements that are so apparent in society now. There are still people all over the world that don’t understand the severity of sexual crimes, or believe that they aren’t happening as often as they actually are. Despite various statistics, such as: every 98 seconds an American is sexually assaulted, every 8 minutes a child is sexually assaulted, 6 out of 1000 sexual offenders or rapists end up in jail, 1 in 5 women are sexually assaulted during their lifetime, and 1 in 6 men are sexually abused during their lifetime, people all over don’t believe that sexual assault is serious. These ideas of disbelief are the basis of rape culture, or the tolerance of rape and other sex crimes in society. Despite so much negativity and “bad luck” surrounding rape and sex crimes, the future holds justice for rape survivors.
