The movie, A Christmas Carol, tells the tale of an old miserable callous man named Ebenezer Scrooge and his path to redemption. It takes place in the mid 1800s, where the people of London are consumed with the spirit of Christmas and the excitement that comes with the season. Scrooge is known around town as a greedy creditor who has a cold heart and replies “Humbug!” to all of the Christmas activities. He declines his nephew’s Christmas dinner invitation and irrationally fires his hard working employee Bob Cratchit. That night Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his old business partner, Jacob Marley, who warns him of three more ghosts that will be visiting him at one, two, and three a.m.
The first ghost that visits Scrooge is the Ghost of Christmas Past, who reminds him about Christmas’s that he would spend alone at school instead of at home with his family. She also showed him times in his childhood when making money was not his only purpose in life.
As the clock strikes 2 o’clock, the Ghost of Christmas Present appears. He shows Scrooge his nephew and fiancé together and tells him they may not be able to afford a wedding. Afterwards, the spirit took him to see the Cratchit family and how happy they are with so little. Scrooge discovers that Bob’s youngest son, Tiny Tim, has a serious illness and will not be able to survive because Bob cannot afford the proper medical care with the wages Scrooge had been giving him.
Finally, the Ghost of Christmas yet to Come arrives and…
