An New Presentation Style Hitting The Scene Essay

Pecha Kucha, short for chitchat in Japanese, has become the new presentation style hitting the scene. Some great conversations, and ideas are coming out, while people have begun using this presentation style. While watching people present on some important topics that are affecting student affairs professionals and higher education, some topics that stuck out included: Movement to allow concealed weapons on college campuses, Safety and security in study abroad Programs, and the Amenities arms race. These three topics stuck out because I believe they will become some of the most important topics to take over student affairs, and higher education environments, and workplaces in the next 5-10 years. Due to the increase in violence on college campuses, to the increasing need for safety, the rise on gun control and the current violence occurring in different parts of the world.
Recently over the past couple of years it seems like there has been an increase of violent attacks on college campuses, or in general public places, or educational institutes. Some such cases as the: Virginia Tech. Massacre, Umpqua Community College shooting, the University of California rampage around campus, as well as the many other accounts of attacks of violence on or around campus communities. With this increase, also comes the rise in societies wants for gun control. With the increase for societies rise in wanting better gun control, there becomes dissatisfaction for safety.
