Case Study: Edgewell Personal Care

I have been employed at Edgewell Personal Care, a division of Playtex Products, Inc. for over seventeen years. Our manufacturing facility is located in Dover, Delaware. My employment here has always been working in the Quality department where I manage the Device History Records department. A department that reviews, approves and manages all documents from the manufacturing floor. The manager that has given me guidance and advice during my career is Norman Hahn. Norma has many processes that he oversees such as Corrective and Preventative Actions, Material Review Boards, and Quality Systems requirements, as well as assisting other managers during FDA audits. Norman has been employed at Edgewell for over twenty seven years, in this time he has held many positions to include machine operator, Production Supervisor, Compliance Manager and Quality manager. Mr. Hahn currently works within the Quality department and is considered as a midrange manager as he reports to the Senior Quality Manager. Although he has numerous responsibilities his current role is Compliance and Quality Manager for Feminine Care personal products. In this role he is responsivities for …show more content…
Though we both have our own style in decision making, for example, he sometimes bases his decisions on verbal communications, while I believe it is necessary to have hard evidence such as documentation prior to making a judgement call. I feel as though Norman’s management style has affected to some extent, changing my attitude, behavior and motivation. Through all of the years working for Mr. Hahn, he has told me “trust in your instinct and do what is right” (Hahn), I feel as though this statement alone, which he told me seventeen years ago has allowed me to grow professionally and personally, giving me more confidence in my abilities to make decisions, thus, allowing me to make the many decisions a manager should be
