An Introduction to the Portfolio: The assignment of this portfolio serves primarily as a way for students to look at the articles they wrote and recognize what areas they need to focus on and the strengths they already have. Within this document, five essays that were written in and out of class have been analyzed and reflected upon with scrutiny. The articles within this document are far from perfect, but each and every one of them portrays my numerous strengths and weaknesses as a writer over the past marking period, as well as this past year, which is why they were chosen. In general, the essay’s chosen are equal representations of who I was as a writer and the critiques and explanations are examples of my abilities to recognize the faults in my writing, as well as my ability to recognize what I have done well. Even though this portfolio may point out that I am not perfect as a writer, it shows that as a learner I am someone that is always striving to be better and is willing to go into depth to find what I need to do, in order to make that adjustment. This also, contains my reflection of the research paper process and my opinion regarding the benefits of knowing Aristotle’s appeals of ethos, pathos and logos, and how they will help me as a writer in the future and during the writing of the research paper.
